IGT’s social gaming subsidiary DoubleDown Interactive has launched a football-themed slot exclusive to mobile devices ahead of the World Cup which kicks off next week.

The new slot, Final Goal, is available on the Android, iOS and Amazon Kindle Fire versions of the DoubleDown app and features a customisable game experience.

Users can select their favourite football team from sixteen country flags including Brazil, England and Argentina. Each players’ selected country flag appears in their spin button, and is displayed when the slot launches.

The game includes fifteen paylines, football-themed bonus and scatter symbols, and 3x5 spinning reels in the bonus spins game. Free spins and multipliers are accumulated by shooting at the goal, while a penalty kick bonus game is activated by spinning three to five bonus symbols.

“Whether spinning for the penalty kick bonus or using touch functionality for goal-line shots, players will be excited by our highly stylized reel art, engaging backgrounds, and rich sounds,” DoubleDown vice president of games Jim Veevaert.

“Final Goal puts players directly in to the action to customize their game experience,” he continued. “At DoubleDown Casino we continue to innovate, bringing authentic, Vegas-style entertainment to players around the world.”

The launch is the latest in a flurry of activity since Zynga studio manager Veevaert was brought in by the company earlier this year.

The company has rolled out a slot based on the popular toy franchise Transformers, while parent company IGT has sealed a new licensing deal with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to continue to develop games based around TV gameshows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!

It has also agreed an exclusive deal with casino games developer Action Gaming to develop video poker games for DoubleDown and its real-money business.
