New York-listed Inspired Entertainment will once again broadcast its Virtual Grand National predictor race on UK terrestrial TV channel ITV ahead of the annual Aintree race later this month.

In a TV first, Inspired will power The Grand National Race of Champions, with 40 runners from past races competing against modern-day contemporaries, using the latest 3D technology and software.

This will see Red Rum, the three-time winner and possibly the world's most famous racehorse, resurrected to compete against last year's winner One for Arthur.

This year's Grand National, the 171st running, will take place on April 14th, and for the second consecutive edition of the race, coverage will feature the Virtual Grand National predictor race, powered by Inspired's virtual racing product.

This will see all runners and riders competing in the real race participate, as part of the pre-race build-up.

"We used the latest technology and filming techniques to capture the iconic Aintree course in order to deliver the most authentic looking race possible," Inspired chief commercial officer for digital games Steve Rogers said.

"The reaction to the 2017 Virtual Grand National was fantastic and we're delighted to be bringing the Race of Champions, in addition to the 2018 Virtual Grand National predictor race, to screens this year," he added.

Last year the predictor race was won by Cause of Causes, with the horse coming from mid-pack towards the end of the race to take the prize.
