Bragg Gaming group director of content, Doug Fallon, explains how the supplier is using regionalization and great designs to spearhead the next level of online casino content.

How does developing a game for the US market differ from ones that we may see in Europe?

Regional preferences are often influenced on how gaming was introduced and then evolved to the players. While the US is a young market for iGaming, it has a long history of land based casinos across many of its markets. Europe has a much more fragmented land based gaming market and online gaming is more mature and over the years has sparked greater innovation creating a broader base of game play styles.

We have seen greater convergence of many online and land based game mechanics over the past several years but there are some underlying differences in certain game characteristics that tend to perform better between the US and European markets.

Game math profiles in terms of volatility, line count, feature frequency combined with general artistic preferences within a region can also be a key differentiating factor. The US market often takes advantage of land based game titles to create recognition with online players as well. There are also some unique segments within each market such as ‘Fruit’ games in Europe and ‘Stepper’ games in the US market.

At Bragg, we often adjust our mathematical models and features based on the market concerned as we want to optimize for regional preferences. Further, we may modify or focus our artistic approach for the respective markets. As we follow trends, we adjust accordingly but do see greater crossover of games.

Given how much people engage with slots now on mobile devices, does this make the development process more mobile-centric?

Bragg operates with a ‘mobile-first’ approach to games development, in terms of size and formatting, and it’s an approach which governs the majority of our development.

With a global split of more than 75 per cent of players playing mobile, we look to optimize certain aspects of the game between various screen layouts, file sizes and other adjustments to provide players with the right experience, no matter the device.

What unique features does Dragon Power Super Orbs have that set it apart from the crowd?

Dragon Power Super Orbs leaves the original Dragon Power core elements intact such as the art style, hold and respin feature and free game with multipliers.

The next thing we layered into the concept was a game mechanic that we have utilized on several other popular titles such as Congo Cash and Fairy Dust, where we clearly show what the player can win on each of the orbs above the reels. This combination of features created a new experience for Dragon Power players yet retained the original core game design.

As a follow up question to your previous title Dragon Power, what was the feedback like for the original that has prompted you to make a sequel?

Dragon Power debuted in 2020 and continues to perform extremely well in the North American market and regularly appears in Top 25 Slot reports. At Bragg, a key part of our strategy is to leverage our top performing brands as they get instant brand recognition by players to build on the player experience that made them popular to begin with.

Based on the immense popularity of the original title, we have invested into the Dragon Power franchise for several new releases in 2025, and are excited to start with Dragon Power Super Orbs.

How does this title evolve the original enough to attract new players without changing too much to put off fans of the original?

The addition of the “Super Orbs” provides not only an innovation on a known title for existing players, but also a cutting-edge new mechanic for players that want to try the game for the first time. It really highlights the potential wins, but retains its core features from the original.

The Wild Streak studio has a lot of experience in sequels and innovation, so we approach brand extensions so we will plan a series of games with enhancements and modifications along the way to take players on different journeys and appeal to a wider audience as market trends change.

This theme of slot games seems to be very popular, what do you think makes the theme resonate so much with players?

Dragon Power had a few elements which were right for the market trends such as a Hold and Respin feature combined with Free Games with multipliers and an Asian art package with a bit of a twist with added Wilds and Orbs which hit the market at the right time and place. Players quickly adopted the game and they found a familiarity and trust.

This familiarity and trust are critical as we approach the brand extensions and build on those experiences.

What is next on the agenda for Wild Streak Gaming, do you already have a lot planned for 2025?

We plan to release nine new titles from the Wild Streak Gaming studio this year, so players will have access to a lot of new content which they can enjoy and which our operator partners will be able to offer.

I can’t say too much, but what we can reveal is that there are two further Dragon Power expansion titles coming, along with a mix of new designs and mechanics in other titles, some of which players may recognise from the US land-based market, so watch this space!
