Dutch charity lotteries fined over €1m for telemarketing calls

The Netherlands’ postal and telecommunications watchdog OPTA has called on charity lotteries to do more to ensure compliance with market regulations, after it emerged that the lotteries have racked up more than €1m in fines for inappropriate marketing activities.

The scale of the fines has only now come to light after the charity lotteries lost their appeal against the latest fine and failed in their bid to block publication of OPTA’s ruling.
