Michigan’s gambling regulator has ordered Curaçao-based MyBookie.ag to withdraw its services from the state.

The order from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) to Duranbah Limited N.V., the operator of MyBookie.ag, gives the company 14 days in which to withdraw its services from Michigan, or face the prospect of legal action.

This follows an MGCB investigation which found that MyBookie.ag provides a range of online betting and casino games to players in Michigan, without a local license, as well as the option to make deposits and withdrawals using Bitcoin.

“Our investigation into MyBookie.ag found that their operations were accessible to Michigan citizens, which violates state laws,” said Henry Williams, executive director at the MGCB. “We are taking strong action to uphold the principles of fair and legal gaming.”

According to the MGCB, MyBookie’s service in Michigan violates the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

The regulator warned that it will work with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to bring further legal action against the company, if Duranbah Limited N.V. fails to comply with the MGCB cease and desist order within 14 days from receipt of the letter.
