Prospective casino operators have until 3 November to submit permit applications
The Danish Gaming Authority is aiming to permit new land-based casinos during a three-month licensing window which opened on Monday.
The gambling regulator is inviting permit applications before the deadline of 3 November, as the government seeks to expand Denmark’s land-based casino market beyond the seven current venues.
The ten-year permits are available to operators who meet strict licensing requirements, including required approvals from the local municipality in which the venue will be located, and the approval of the Ministry of Taxation and the Ministry of Business and Industry.
There are currently seven active licenses for land-based casinos in Denmark, with the casinos located in Copenhagen South, Copenhagen West, Helsingør, Odense, Vejle, Aarhus, and Aalborg.
Online gambling dominates Denmark’s regulated market and accounted for 73 per cent of total annual gambling revenue of DKK11.52 billion in 2025. Land-based casinos had annual revenue of DKK378 million in 2025, down from DKK401 million in 2024.
