Sri Lanka is clamping down on unlicensed online gambling through the use of site blocking measures against a number of high-profile sites.

The website blocks announced on Thursday apply to 24 websites that are accused of serving players in Sri Lanka without a local license.

The site blocking was carried out under the Gambling Regulatory Authority Act of 2025, which came into force in September and established the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) as the national gambling regulator.

The 2025 law also made it illegal to provide gambling services in Sri Lanka without a local license from the GRA.

In a statement this morning, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Digital Economy and the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission urged the public to refrain from participating in or investing money through unauthorized online gambling platforms that operate in violation of Sri Lankan law.
