The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) has called for Ireland’s gambling laws to be tightened in order to ban betting on school teams or events contested by minors, as it looks to better protect young sportspeople.
The GAA, as the governing body for sports such as hurling, Gaelic football and camogie, has made a submission to the country’s Department of Justice and Equality, asking Minister Frances Fitzgerald to amend the 2013 Gambling Control Bill.
