Swedish gaming operator Betsson has revealed that it is to submit returns for historic tax on its sports betting activities in the German market as it looks to ensure a smooth licensing process in future, citing the “considerable opportunities” the market would offer.

The operator said that it believes a future regulated German gaming market could be potentially lucrative. Despite not pursuing a licence when the tender to award the country’s 20 sports betting licences was first opened, it now plans to apply for certification as soon as possible.
