Senators in the US state of Georgia have introduced
legislation to regulate sports betting as a lottery game.
The proposal introduced Friday follows an unsuccessful
attempt last year to legalise and regulate sports betting through a constitutional
amendment.
The senate bill defines sports wagering as a lottery game
and gives the Georgia Lottery responsibility for operations and management
alongside a new body, the Georgia Mobile Sports Wagering Integrity Commission,
which would be responsible for licensing.
