Zeal Investments, the investment subsidiary of German online lottery broker Zeal Networks, has agreed to invest USD$2m in the US online fundraising platform Omaze.

Described as an "experience lottery", Los Angeles-based Omaze was founded in 2012 by Ryan Cummins and Matt Pohlson and offers players the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime experience by donating as little as $10.

One person is picked at random for the "chance to experience something extraordinary", with 80 per cent of net donations going to charity and 20 per cent to Omaze. The company has raised over $60m for over 200 charities including UNICEF and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
