The UK Gambling Commission has warned its licensed betting operators to ensure that their bonus promotions are fair and transparent, highlighting failures relating to Cheltenham Festival bonus offers by Isle of Man-based TGP Europe and Fesuge.
The case concerned promotions for TGP’s online betting sites FUN88, TLCBet, and 12Bet, as well as Fesuge’s 138.com, at the Cheltenham Festival last March. The offers were subject to their own specific terms and conditions and stated that customers could not have multiple accounts with the brands.
The operators assessed that a large number of bets had been placed in contravention of clause 15.2 of their terms, which related to abusing or attempting to abuse a bonus or other promotion.
As a result, both TGP and Fesuge took the decision to suspend over 5,000 player accounts, notifying the Commission of their concerns relating to suspected bonus abuse.
