Flutter Entertainment-owned operator Betfair has secured a three-year agreement to serve as the official betting partner of the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL.

The deal will see Betfair sponsor the confederation’s two major club competitions, the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana, until December 2022.

As part of the agreement, Betfair will benefit from brand exposure across South America through in-stadia branding, broadcast and digital assets.

“We are pleased to present Betfair as a partner of the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana,” said CONMEBOL commercial director Juan Emilio Roa. “With this important partnership, we add another global brand to the international status of South American football.”

Betfair joins global brands such as Amstel, Bridgestone, Gatorade, Mastercard, Qatar Airways, Santander, Rexona and Tag Heuer as official partners of CONMEBOL.

“We are delighted to be the official betting partner of the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana," said Betfair brand director Stephen Mault. “These two prestigious tournaments have provided so many memorable moments in world football throughout the ages and we are very proud to be supporting the action for the next three years. We look forward to seeing how the rest of this year's tournaments unfold.”

The CONMEBOL Libertadores is an annual international club football competition established in 1960, featuring 47 teams from ten countries. It was won last year by Argentina’s River Plate.

CONMEBOL Sudamericana began in 2002, replacing the separate competitions Copa Merconorte and Copa Mercosur. Last year’s competition was won by Brazil’s Athletico Paranaense.

Shares in Flutter Entertainment plc (LSE:FLTR) were trading marginally lower at 6,716.00 pence per share in London Tuesday morning.
