A new health survey released this week has shown an overall decline in gambling participation in the UK and a reduction in the level of problem gambling.
The Health Survey for England 2012 revealed that 65 per cent of adults (almost 28m people) in England gambled in the past year. Excluding those who gamble only on the National Lottery draw, the figure drops to 43 per cent.
