US eSports teams aim to end “Wild West” era with new professional body

Seven of North America’s leading eSports teams have banded together to form the Professional eSports Association (PEA), running a ten-week season from January 2017.

The PEA will be dedicated to professional eSports, aiming to showcase performances of some of the best US players. It aims to secure the sport’s future with a legally sound and financially stable funding structure, providing the same support given to players in other professional sports leagues.
