New York-listed social gaming giant Zynga has appointed Phuong Phillips as the company’s new chief legal officer.

In her new role, Phillips will oversee all legal affairs and government relations for the company, reporting directly to chief executive Frank Gibeau.

Phillips brings nearly 15 years of technology and clean energy legal experience to the business. Prior to joining Zynga she served as associate general counsel for Tesla, where she managed the post-acquisition integrations of SolarCity Corp and Grohmann Engineering.

Before that, Phillips spent more than six years at clean energy company SolarCity as vice president, deputy general counsel and head of corporate and securities.

"I'm excited to welcome Phuong to Zynga,” said Gibeau. “She has a proven track record of navigating complex and evolving industries, while working closely with teams to drive positive business outcomes.

"We look forward to bringing Phuong's experience across corporate affairs, mergers and acquisitions, and governance to Zynga's Legal team."

Shares in Zynga Inc (Co. Data) (NSQ:ZNGA) closed up 0.81 per cent at US$3.73 per share in New York Wednesday.
