Ainsworth expands Historical Horse Racing presence in Kentucky

Ainsworth Game Technology has installed its Historical Horse Racing (HHR) System and terminals at Kentucky’s newly opened Sandy’s Racing & Gaming venue in Ashland.

The new $75 million facility opened late last month featuring 675 HHR terminals, of which nearly 60 per cent are connected to Ainsworth’s HHR system.

In addition to Ainsworth’s content, the supplier’s HHR System provides customers with popular content from gaming suppliers including Aristocrat, IGT, Konami and Light & Wonder.

“We are excited to have such a strong partner in Kentucky with Sandy’s,” said Ainsworth president of North America Deron Hunsberger. “Ainsworth’s HHR System continues to set the standard in the Historical Horse Racing market, and we look forward to continued success for both Ainsworth and our partners as we continue to expand our presence in Kentucky and other HHR jurisdictions.”

Owned by Revolutionary Racing, the 75,000 square-foot facility also features a BetMGM Race & Sportsbook, and is set to include Kentucky's only quarter horse racetrack and an equestrian center, located on 182 acres behind Sandy's.

Track construction is officially set to begin in early 2024, with the first races set to take place in 2025, providing continued growth for Kentucky's thriving horse racing industry.

“Ainsworth’s HHR platform offers the best value proposition to operators in the Historic Horse Racing market today,” said Revolutionary Racing and Sandy’s president John Marshall. “We congratulate Deron and his team at Ainsworth from ‘exec to tech’ for leading with a competitive HHR system option. We look forward to blazing SANDY’S trail with partners like Ainsworth.”

In September bet365 launched its mobile sportsbook operations in the state’s newly regulated market in partnership with Sandy’s.
