France’s La Française des Jeux (FDJ) has selected Kambi to take over as the multi-channel sportsbook provider to Canada’s Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
Kambi will assume FDJ’s contract as OLG’s long-term sports betting partner, which is due to run until 2032, pending the satisfaction and completion of certain conditions.
To complete the assumption of the contract, Kambi must make a material initial investment which, as a non-recurring item affecting comparability, will not form part of Kambi’s full-year 2025 operating expenditure guidance.
The novation agreement conditions are expected to be satisfied as soon as possible, with Kambi expecting the multi-channel migration to be completed in the second half of 2025.
“The prospect of partnering with an organisation of the size and stature of OLG is an exciting one for Kambi and we are working diligently to complete the novation process with FDJ and launch later this year,” said Kambi CEO Werner Becher. “Ontario has a competitive online market, but I believe a combination of OLG and Kambi will see PROLINE rightly compete with market leaders while continuing to raise the bar of its retail product.”
OLG offers sports betting through its PROLINE brand online and at approximately 10,000 retailers, which is currently powered by FDJ Gaming Solutions and Sporting Solutions, both owned by FDJ.
OLG was the sole legal provider of online sports betting and gaming in Ontario until regulation of the market in April 2022, which paved the way for approximately 50 operators to enter the province.
Last year FDJ completed the acquisition of Kindred Group, a long-term partner of Kambi.
Shares in Kambi Group plc (STO:KAMBI) gained 3.85 per cent on the news to SEK124.20 per share in Stockholm Monday, while shares in La Française des Jeux SA (PAR:FDJ) were trading marginally higher at €36.66 in Paris.
