18th June 2013 9:15 am GMT

US games developer High 5 Games has strengthened its social gaming portfolio with the acquisition of North Carolina-based games studio Electrotank.

High 5 Games said that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of Electrotank's assets and intellectual property, which will allow the company to complete the planned launch of its Game Server Platform.

High 5 Games CEO Anthony Singer said: “This move will allow High 5 Games to strengthen and finalize our upcoming Game Server Platform, which will allow our content to be real-time streamed to both regulated real-money gaming sites, as well as to social casino sites throughout the world.

“We are overjoyed to bring in the many talented individuals from Electrotank into High 5 Games.”

High 5 Games has previously worked with Electrotank in the past to move some of its popular land-based slot games onto the Facebook gaming platform.

Electrotank CEO Michael Gold said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for Electrotank. High 5 Games has a long history of producing highly successful content, and I am excited to see what the two companies can do together.”

Based in North Carolina, Electrotank has licensed its server and platform technology to a number of well-known clients including Disney, MTV, Nickelodeon, Mattel, and Comedy Central.

The company has created more than 300 browser-based and mobile games, as well as more than 12 full-features, fully customized virtual worlds and MMOs (massively multiplayer online games).

“We will continue to look for opportunities of this kind to improve upon our position as a premier content provider,” said High 5 Games’ chief operating officer Med Nadooshan. “High 5 Games' growth strategy will allow the company to aggressively pursue potential new ventures and rapidly expand into untapped markets.”
