UK and Irish horse racing broadcaster At the Races (ATR) has agreed terms with Ripon Racecourse for a renewal of its media rights deal for the next ten years.

Ripon Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Ripon, North Yorkshire, and nicknamed the Garden Racecourse.

The new agreement with Ripon sees ATR retain exclusive cross platform media rights, excluding distribution into licensed betting offices in the UK and Ireland.

ATR will also acquire all terrestrial television distribution rights for Ripon Racecourse in the UK and Ireland. The company expects to deliver significant growth in media rights revenues for Ripon Racecourse from the outset of the new term, which began last month.

At The Races CEO Matthew Imi said: “Ripon Racecourse provides a strong portfolio of Flat racing fixtures throughout the summer and hosts some historic and high profile Handicap races including the William Hill Gt. St. Wilfrid and the City of Ripon Stakes.

“We are delighted to announce a new media rights agreement and a ten year extension to our valued relationship with Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse and look forward to working with David Wilmot-Smith, James Hutchinson and the other directors to achieve a significant increase in media rights payments going forward.”

As part of the new agreement, Ripon Racecourse will be offered a seat on the ATR board and will be integrally involved in the strategic direction of its rights management.

James Hutchinson, CEO of Ripon Racecourse, said: “Over the past couple of years we have seen our working relationship develop and have vastly benefited from additional support in terms of marketing and sponsorship. We look forward to keeping up this momentum benefiting both our racegoers and sponsors.”
