Having previously introduced a liberal licencing regime for iGaming operators, which was never implemented, the Hungarian government has now notified the European Commission (EC) of amendments to its gambling laws which seek to restrict the market.
Under the proposed amendments, which were notified to the EC on June 5th, online sports betting may only be offered to Hungarian consumers by the state-owned gambling operator Szerencsejáték Zrt.
