Impairment charges hit Zynga in third quarter

Despite posting a 3 per cent increase in revenues for the third quarter of 2012, social games company Zynga has posted a net loss of $52.7m having incurred significant impairment charges relating to the company’s acquisition of OMGPOP earlier this year.

Online game revenues fell by 0.8 per cent to $285.6m during the quarter, while advertising revenues increased 64 per cent to $31.1m. Bookings, the money made from virtual goods sales, were down 11 per cent [...]
