Restricting the type of sporting events on which betting can take place is one of the policy recommendations contained in a report on match-fixing published by the European Commission.
The document also proposes that the Commission considers extending the scope of the existing Anti-Money Laundering Directive to include sports betting operators and that there should be a Green Paper consultation on match-fixing and corruption in sport.
