The Australian Wagering Council (AWC) has called on authorities to introduce a national framework for licensing and regulating betting services, and bring an end to the current prohibition on online in-play betting.
The call was made in the AWC’s submission to the government’s Review of the Impact of Illegal Offshore Wagering, which recommended that a regulatory body be established to license operators, and set and enforce national consumer protection rules and problem gambling standards.
