The American Gaming Association (AGA) has pledged to continue its fight for the legalisation and regulation of sports betting, after a new report revealed widespread support from a number of sporting bodies, law enforcement officials and the general public.

The findings were released at a law enforcement summit held in Washington DC, in which the AGA's Illegal Gambling Advisory Board explained that the current prohibition on sports betting in the US is simply not working.

The summit discussed the scale and scope of the illegal betting market and how this aids criminal enterprise, as well as potential solutions for tackling the problem.
