Federal oversight of betting welcomed by leagues, dismissed by AGA as nonstarter

U.S Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has proposed new federal regulations for sports betting which he says will "prevent uncertainty and confusion" among sports leagues, state governments and consumers.

Schumer's proposal aims to establish "a desperately-needed federal framework" to protect consumers and the integrity of sports based around three core principles: protecting young people and those suffering from gambling addiction, protecting the integrity of the game, and protecting consumers and individuals placing bets.
