The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has warned that some fantasy football competitions may require a licence because they fall within the regulator's definition of gambling.

Ahead of the upcoming 2017-18 football season, the regulator said that some fantasy football leagues may require a pool licence from the Gambling Commission, as prize values are determined by the number of paying entrants.
