Lawmakers in Virginia have two sports betting proposals to consider following the introduction of competing bills in the House and Senate Wednesday.

The first is the house bill that was prefiled in November 2018 and introduced on January 9th (HB 1638), which would repeal the prohibition on online lottery sales and direct the Virginia Lottery to regulate sports betting and issue up to five permits to sports betting providers.
