KSA issues €20 million fine to iGaming operator Gammix

The Gambling Authority of the Netherlands has imposed a fine of almost €20 million on online gambling operator Gammix.

The fine is the highest penalty ever issued by Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) and follows a €4 million fine imposed on Gammix in 2022 for serving the market without a licence.

“Dutch players must be protected, that is why we are cracking down on illegal offers,” said KSA chairman René Jansen. “We see that illegal providers often pay little attention to the player and do not adhere to a duty of care.

“We also see this with this provider. For instance, there was no clear age verification. That is hugely damaging. We therefore continue to take sanctioning action, even if providers repeatedly do wrong.”

At €19,679,000, this is the highest fine imposed by the KSA since its establishment. It is based on Gammix’s estimated turnover from Dutch players, plus additional penalties for the lack of age verification, the availability of autoplay and turboplay, and other regulatory breaches.

The KSA accuses Malta-licensed Gammix of continuing to offer online casino games to player in the Netherlands without a local licence, using domains such as rantcasino, betoriginal, bluvegas, cashimashi, goslot, nordslot, vegadream and scatters.

The previous fine of €4 million was collected from Gammix in September 2023.
