Sports data provider Sportradar has extended its rights portfolio, adding coverage of the Spengler Cup international ice hockey tournament and the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship to Betradar’s Live Channel product.

The Betradar’s Live Channel product is used by retail bookmakers, and currently offers over 15 hours of live sport a day. This has now been expanded with all eleven matches of the Spengler Cup, held in Switzerland, to be broadcast between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

It will be further enhanced by the broadcast of the WAFF Championship, which will be contested by ten West Asian teams, and hosted in Quatar between December 25th and January 7th, with 16 matches played over the period.

Sportradar’s managing director of media rights Joern Anhalt admitted that there was traditionally a “limited” amount of betting related live sports over the Christmas period, and said that the Spengler Cup and WAFF Championship would allow Betradar to “guarantee interesting live events for [its] customers for the holiday season.”

In order to offset this quiet period, the Live Channel will also feature coverage of a number of additional sports, including the ATP Quatar Exxon Mobile Open tennis tournament, and the International Tennis Federation tournament, held in Istanbul over the Christmas period.

It will also broadcast several matches from the Czech ice hockey league, live basketball from the German Basketball Bundesliga and Spain’s Liga ACB, as well as handball matches in the German Handball Bundesliga, as it looks to help bookmakers offset the lack of mainstream sporting events.
