Britain’s Gambling Commission has appointed Charles Counsell as interim chair for a nine month term commencing in February.
Counsell has been serving as a senior independent director at the regulator since April 2024 and will be taking over from Marcus Boyle, who announced his resignation last month.
Before joining the Gambling Commission, Counsell was chief executive of The Pensions Regulator between April 2019 and March 2023, where he helped to develop a new corporate strategy for the regulator.
Counsell served as CEO of The Money Advice Service between June 2017 and December 2018.
