Light & Wonder has promoted senior vice president and international managing director Simon Johnson to the role of CEO of its iGaming arm.

Johnson transitions from the company’s Gaming division to lead the digital gaming business, replacing Dylan Slaney, who stepped down from the role in November.

Johnson has been with Light & Wonder (then Scientific Games) since April 2017 and has been instrumental in driving the international commercial efforts of the Gaming division. He was named interim UK managing director in April 2020 and in January 2021 assumed the role of SVP and managing director of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In September 2022, Asia and New Zealand was also added to his remit.

His promotion sees him join the company’s executive leadership team, reporting directly to Light & Wonder president and CEO Matt Wilson.

“With a new year comes new possibilities for growth and leadership, and I’m thrilled to share the appointment of Simon Johnson as the CEO of iGaming Light & Wonder,” said Wilson. “With Simon at the helm, supported by our talented Light & Wonder iGaming team, we’re in excellent hands.”

Johnson added: “I am excited to share that I have stepped into the role of CEO, iGaming at Light & Wonder. As we embark on a new year, I am energised by the opportunities ahead and eager to work with our incredibly talented iGaming team across the world.”

Shares in Light & Wonder Inc (NASDAQ:LNW) closed marginally lower at $85.54 per share in New York Thursday, and dropped a further 1.79 per cent to $84.01 in pre-market trading Friday.
