Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has begun the search for a new chairman after René Jansen confirmed he will step down when his contract expires next year.
Jansen has chosen not to stand for reappointment when his contract expires as he will reach retirement age at the end of this year.
Having taken on the role of chairman in October 2018, he will step down from the role on 1 June 2024, with a replacement to be appointed by the Minister for Legal Protection.
“In recent years I have committed myself to the KSA’s mission of safe play with great energy and pleasure,” said Jansen. “There are many great challenges for the new chairman. The KSA has an important role as a supervisor and enforcer in the various gaming markets.
“This management position is challenging, requires creativity, innovation and decisiveness, but above all has great social value.”
Under Jansen’s leadership, the KSA opened the regulated Dutch online gambling market in October 2021, which generated gross gaming revenue of €1.33 billion in the year to July 2023.
Applicants can apply for the chairman role until 12 November, with a six-year contract set to be issued offering a gross salary of up to €141,000.
