The Swedish government has appointed Claes Norgren as the new chairman of gambling regulator Spelinspektionen.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that Norgren will take over as chairman on 1 April, replacing Per Håkansson, who has held the role since May 2013.

Norgren previously served as auditor general of the National Audit Office, head of the Financial Supervisory Authority, and deputy governor of the Riksbank.

The government has also appointed former director general of the Coast Guard, Therese Mattsson, as a new member of the Spelinspektionen board.

Mattsson is one of four members of the board, serving alongside Fredrik Holmberg, Håkan Wall and Madelaine Tunudd.

Both Norgren and Mattsson’s appointments will run for two years through 31 March 2026.
