Gaming operator Gauselmann Group has won a tender to operate up to 10 land-based casinos in the German state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen).
Lower Saxony’s existing casino licence expires on 1 September 2024, with operation of the state’s existing casinos to be taken over by Gauselmann under its Merkur brand for an initial period of 15 years.
The win follows Gauselmann's 2021 acquisition of WestSpiel Group, holder of the land-based casino monopoly in North Rhine-Westphalia.
