The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has confirmed that no personal information was accessed or acquired by any unauthorized persons during its recent cyberattack.

The gambling regulator’s public-facing website was hit by a cyberattack on 25 January, following on from recent attacks on casino operators MGM Resorts International and Caesars Entertainment.

Upon becoming aware of the incident, NGCB agents promptly took steps to investigate the situation and secured the website in accordance with NGCB’s established protocols.

The NGCB chose to shut down the existing website and transitioned to a new website platform under the guidance of the Nevada Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

“An investigation was conducted with cooperation between the NGCB Information Technology team, the OCIO, fellow law enforcement agencies, and external legal and forensic experts,” explained the regulator. “The NGCB is pleased to report that the investigation uncovered no evidence that personal information was accessed or acquired by any unauthorized persons in connection with the incident.

“The security of the NGCB’s information systems is a top priority. Accordingly, the NGCB will continue working diligently to maintain such security.”

The Ohio Lottery also suffered a cyberattack that affected its computer systems on Christmas Eve and has initiated an internal investigation.
