Minnesota Governor vetoes bill and backs lottery’s online move

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has vetoed a bill that would have restricted the online sale of lottery tickets across the state. 

Despite the legislation being recently passed by both the House and Senate, Dayton explained in a letter to Sandra Pappas, Senate President and co-author of Senate File 2642, that he believed the executive director of the Minnesota Lottery was acting “within the scope of his legislatively-established authority” when launching online scratchcards in February this year.
