SG and Pollard secure Washington Lottery instant games contracts

Lottery and gaming software suppliers Scientific Games and Pollard Banknote have been awarded contracts to supply a selection of instant win games to the Washington State Lottery.
Scientific Games, which has worked with the lottery since 1990, has signed a new contract to serve as the lottery’s primary supplier of instant win games, while Pollard will act as the secondary provider.
The contracts were awarded following a competitive procurement process that began in March this year. Both deals last for six years, with an option for the lottery to extend the partnerships for up to four years.
The lottery has posted two years of consecutive revenue growth, with total sales for its 2013 financial year increasing 6 per cent to $567m. Instant win games generated more than half of the lottery’s total revenue for the year.
Commenting on the renewed relationship with Scientific Games, Washington Lottery director Bill Hanson noted that the 25 year-old relationship had been built “on trust and proven successes.”
“We are excited about the opportunities for increasing revenue as we continue our longstanding partnership,” Hanson said.
Scientific Games senior vice president of instant products John Schulz said his company was honoured to see the relationship between the companies continue.
“Washington's Lottery successfully generates and maximizes its proceeds to benefit the citizens of the state of Washington,” Schulz added.
Pollard Banknote’s co-chief executive Doug Pollard said he was very excited to be working with the Washington Lottery for the first time in the company’s history.
“By securing this new contract, the lottery demonstrates its confidence in our ability to offer the latest innovations to help maximize proceeds for the wide-ranging education programs it supports,” Pollard explained. “We look forward to helping the lottery creatively respond to changes in both the lottery industry and the Washington marketplace with exciting leading-edge innovations that have broad appeal.”
