DraftKings agrees Sacramento Kings & Los Angeles Clippers deals

6th February 2015 7:47 am GMT

Fantasy sports operator DraftKings has signed partnerships with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings, the first time that either of the NBA teams have entered the daily fantasy sports market.

DraftKings will become the official daily fantasy sports partner of the Los Angeles Clippers. This will see the operator’s brand incorporated with the Clippers through numerous elements including video board and LED Courtside signage, game day receptions, an extensive digital media package and a Fan Contest hosted on DraftKings.com.

The Grand Prize will be a trip for two including round trip flights to the final Clippers game of the regular season versus Phoenix on April 14th, along with tickets to the game, hotel accommodations, ground transportation and Clippers merchandise.

“We are excited to partner with DraftKings,” said Clippers president of business operations Gillian Zucker. “This is a tremendous opportunity for the Clippers to associate with an innovative and progressive organization and we look forward to engaging our fan base through this new partnership.”

DraftKings CEO and co-founder Jason Robins said: “The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most exciting teams in the NBA, and DraftKings is excited to work with an organization clearly on the rise and its national fan base.

“The team’s slogan, ‘Be Relentless,’ is in the same spirit of competition and excitement we bring to our growing user base, and we’re very pleased to add the Clippers to the growing list of teams choosing to partner with DraftKings.”

Meanwhile, DraftKings will sponsor several of the Sacramento Kings’ brand platforms, including Kings.com’s Blog Central, game previews and postgame recaps, as well as infographics featured on the Kings digital network.

“The Sacramento Kings have used their business acumen and exceptional vision to revolutionize the sports industry using cutting-edge technologies and engagement tools,” said DraftKings co-founder and chief operating officer Paul Liberman. “We look forward to using the strengths of our brands to enhance the fan experience.”

Kings president Chris Granger added: “DraftKings provides an interactive and captivating platform for consumers that enhances a fan’s ability to become involved in the sports world. As we approach the next era of fan engagement, in which fantasy sport represents an area of tremendous potential, we believe this partnership is the perfect opportunity for us to break barriers and transform the fan experience.”

The agreement also includes a DraftKings commercial on the team’s KHTK Sports 1140 AM broadcast and integration of DraftKings signage at Kings home games and on Kings.com.

DraftKings now has deals with six NBA teams following recent agreements with the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets.
