Lawmakers in the US state of Alabama have introduced legislation that would amend the state's constitution to authorise a lottery and prohibit casino gaming.
The bill would create the Alabama Lottery Corporation, which would be authorised to operate a state lottery but not offer any form of casino gambling. All proceeds from lottery sales would be used to fund education trust fund programs without replacing existing education revenues.
