The Massachusetts Senate’s Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure has advanced a new bill that would permit online lottery sales in the state.
The legislation is designed to help the Massachusetts Lottery better compete in a changing marketplace and appeal to a new demographic of players.
The bill, S2351, amends Section 24 of Chapter 10 of the state’s General Laws to expand lottery sales beyond the current retail network and onto the internet.
