European football governing body UEFA has agreed to join forces with Interpol in order to further reinforce the working relationship between the two organisations and to help combat football-related crimes such as match-fixing.

During a meeting at UEFA headquarters yesterday, UEFA president Michel Platini and Interpol secretary general Ronald K Noble identified a number of areas for cooperation between the two organisations in tackling football-related crimes, including match-fixing and international security threats to EURO 2012 matches.
