Playtech Joins World Lottery Association

23rd November 2009 10:15 am GMT

Bolstering its ambitions to become a leading provider of online gaming platforms to private and state-owned lottery operators, online gaming software developer Playtech Limited has been approved as an Associate Member of the World Lottery Association (WLA), the umbrella organisation for 141 lotteries in 76 countries worldwide.

The WLA accreditation follows the signing of a strategic partnership by Playtech earlier this year to provide its casino and poker products to the Serbian State Lottery, a first-of-its-kind agreement for Playtech (more).

The WLA Associate Member status offers Playtech an opportunity to take a role in the development of best practice for lotteries in regulated markets on a global basis.

"We are very proud to have been approved as an Associate Member of the WLA," said Playtech's Chief Executive, Mor Weizer. "It reflects our strong focus and experience in regulated markets, not least our work with the various lotteries which are leading operators and members of the WLA. We look forward to contributing to the Association's development in the future."

The WLA draws members from 76 countries and five continents who between them generate total revenues in excess of US$180 billion annually.

Playtech joins a number of leading companies as Associate Member of the WLA, including Aristocrat Technologies, Loxley GTECH, Sagem, Intralot and Betware.

Shares in Playtech Limited (Co. Profile) (LSE:PTEC) have gained 3.19% to 412.50 pence per share in London this morning.
