Turnover in the Italian online gaming market in January recorded a three fold increase versus the previous year thanks to the popularity of new games, but sports and horse race betting results continue to disappoint operators.

Italy’s online turnover amounted to €1.51bn in January, up from €470m a year ago when cash poker and casino games were not on offer, but gross gaming revenues (GGR) for the period climbed just 0.8 per cent to €65.17m due to the high payout ratio of the new products.
