US authorities have indicted eight people, including professional poker player Jay Sharon, on charges of operating an illegal sports betting business in New York and Las Vegas.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, joined by New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton, described the business as a “sophisticated illegal sports gambling enterprise” which utilised a number of websites and toll-free numbers.
