GVC Holdings' partypoker brand has appointed former PokerStars country manager Thomas Udness as its new head of Nordic markets.

Udness joins from event development and media production company Adlers Gate, which he founded in December 2016.

He previously served as PokerStars' country manager for Norway, Finland and Iceland between 2008 and 2016.

His new role will see him work alongside Johnny Lodden, a Norwegian professional poker player and former European Poker Tour (EPT) winner who has joined partypoker's roster of ambassadors.

"I am humble and proud to be given the opportunity to head partypoker in the Nordics," Udness said. "And it is amazing to once again be working with Johnny Lodden. He is a poker legend both in and outside of the Nordics and is a player that is highly respected around the world. Together we are already looking at how we can give players great poker experiences both live and online."

partypoker chief executive Tom Waters added: "Johnny will fit perfectly into the team as he shares our beliefs and aspirations. Thomas is highly experienced and will bring extensive local knowledge to the team and will work with Johnny to build awareness of partypoker events, both live and online, in the Nordic markets."

Lodden's first event as a brand ambassador will be the partypoker Millions, which runs from April 16th to 23rd, featuring a £6m guaranteed main event.
