Online gaming technology and services provider Playtech has confirmed the promotion of Ron Hoffman to the role of group finance director, replacing David Mathewson whose resignation takes effect on December 31st.

Mathewson, a former chairman of Sportech plc, was appointed group finance director of Playtech in May 2011, having previously served as a non-executive director. He announced his intention to step down in August of his year.

He will be replaced by Hoffman who has worked in Playtech's finance team for 8 years, most recently as vice president of finance. A qualified accountant, Hoffman previously held a management position at Ernst & Young in Israel from 2002 to 2004.

“I am delighted that Ron is joining the Playtech Board at this important time in the company's development. He has considerable experience within Playtech's business and has been integral to all of the group's successful acquisitions over the last few years and worked closely with David Mathewson,” said Playtech chairman Roger Withers.

Shares in Playtech Limited (Co. Data) (LSE:PTEC) were unchanged early Thursday in London at 427.00 pence per share, just below their 52-week high of 434.40 pence per share.
