A bill to regulate online gambling in the Netherlands has moved a step closer to being passed into law after it was approved by the country’s Council of Ministers on Friday.
The council voted through the legislation, explaining that with hundreds of thousands of Dutch citizens gambling online without the safety net of a licensing system, the bill would ensure gamblers could play online in a “safe and responsible manner.”
