Spanish bingo supplier Zitro Interactive has launched social tournaments in its free-to-play World of Bingo app on Facebook.

The new tournament feature is available to players in any game available within the app. It is designed to encourage in-game interaction between players, and add a peer-to-peer element to complement the app's existing single player titles. 

Zitro has launched the new feature as part of its drive to expand its business in the social casino and real-money gaming sector, with the company to also develop traditional products and expand its distribution network through deals similar to its partnership with Playtech, signed in June this year. 

The company's director, Rais Busom, said that the addition of tournaments would allow players to climb a leaderboard of other users, helping the app "hit new heights in terms of entertainment and, in particular, in terms of players feeling part of a community”.
